Film poster analysis
I think they used the close up shot to emphasise the girl's facial expression and the minor details on her face.
Her hair is in her face and looks quite messy which could connote that she is doing something like moving around a lot or the wind is blowing in her face. She is wearing what seems to be face paint on her lip and some going around her eye area but something that looks quite alien glowing green on her cheeks and forehead; this shows that she could be from a different era or different jungle-type place as the face paint she is wearing could symbolise a tribal look. Also, the glowing green substance on her cheeks and forehead could suggest that she is powerful or somewhat magical as it is a lot brighter than the rest of her colour palette and it has an unusual glow. Her facial expression looks very brave and serious which could mean she is concentrating or maybe hunting something (like she is in a primal tribe). In her eyes, there seems to be laser dots pointed into her iris; this could mean that she is being pointed at with some sort of gun or cannon that uses lasers to aim with - which links back to the fact that she might be hunting/fighting. The rough stone font in capital letters could connote that the film is set in an outdoor, primal type area, like a jungle, because of its jagged edges that make it look raw and natural - and stone is a natural resource. Counting all of this, the poster suggests it is an action or sci-fi movie.
Challenge: The genre conventions that I can take from this poster are action and sci-fi because of the lasers pointing at her eye (connotes action and violence), and the green glowing stuff on her face (connotes something alien).
Excellent Amelia - you've analysed different elements well and used accurate media terminology.
